It never rains in California - But It Has Dews That Wash Out Bridges (thanks to Fred Allen - I believe)!

We could hear the rain last night ... here in El Centro ... here in the dessert where it doesn't rain (well, not very much) ... Rainfall in El Centro is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. The wettest month of the year is January with an average rainfall of 0.51 Inches - and we've gone way over that already! And the annual average precipitation in El Centro is 2.96 inches! So what is that noise on the roof? Rain? No way!

This morning after we awoke we looked out of our front door .... And lo and behold look what the rain had done!

Kathleen had to walk around some of the park and take a few pictures to document this auspicious occasion! Here is what she saw....

Across the street from us ....

Here's what our street looked like. Note handsome red and white Lazy Daze on the right, parked in front of that attractive Park Model!!!

This lot shows the effects of the storm ...

Just down the street from us our neighbor had serious water!

Water, water everywhere!

The storage area looks pretty "damp" too

Looking up our street (Kathleen joined Deanna and Jerry on the stroll through the park - that's Jerry - taking pictures, too).

Our neighbor's flooded site.

Just down the street

Here's a patio under water

From the rains

These plants are getting a good watering!

Here comes the pumper ...

Trying to get the pump to work

Phil makes Walter wear a rain coat (not Phil sans any adequate rain cover)

Happy Day! The pumper is working!

Now if our industrious workers can get much of the water off sites that are inundated with water......

The "big one" is supposed to come through later this afternoon - strong winds and more rain. One hopeful note is that perhaps the strong wind will push a lot of the water over into the lake .....

And ain't we got fun????? How lucky we are that we don't have the challenges of the people of Haiti..... Or the homeowners up in LA who have had to evacuate their homes that are in peril of sliding down the hills.....

"NO DEAL BASICALLY means that if we can't find a solution that wold benefit us both, we agree to disagree agreeably--No Deal. No expectations have been created, no performance contracts established. I don't hire you or we don't take on a particular assignment together because it's obvious that our values or our goals are going in opposite directions. It is so much better to realize this up front instead of downstream when expectations have been created and both parties have been disillusioned.
When you have No Deal as an option in your mind, you feel liberated because you have no need to manipulate people, to push your own agenda, to drive for what you want. You can be open. You can really try to understand the deeper issues underlying the positions."
