Juliana Louise Smith was born 16 years ago - and how the time has flown!

When we lived in the Bay Area we were able to take each grandchild living in the area to an exclusive "Birthday Lunch." It was a great opportunity for us to spend some special time with each birthday person. (A tradition we started with our own children.)

Jules was always ready to go to San Francisco, and on this birthday (a few years ago) she delighted to Ferry with us from Oakland to San Francisco.


Being "on the road" we aren't always able to do this when grandkids' birthdays roll around. This year we are be able to escort this young woman to a restaurant of her choosing in order to celebrate her 16th birthday (we'll attend the official family celebration the day before ours).

Watching “Jules” grow up has been sheer joy for us – and she never ceases to amaze us with her sense of humor, her caring for others, her love of Paul's home made pasta, and her joy in living.

Happy Birthday, dear Jules.
