We made it to Seattle!

We'd been warned about Seattle traffic and were not looking forward to it. Happily, we traveled on Sunday (less traffic, for sure!). Then we went from I-5 to I-405, which made the journey almost sane.

Our destination was Lake Pleasant RV Park to visit with a "Foretravel friend." Paul's corresponded with John for a while, and Kathleen felt she knew him already because of the help and information he offered Paul. The park was a welcome sight! It sits along two little lakes and the flowers abound! The friendly office staff warmly welcomed us, and John made sure we had an excellent site. This is a clean, well-kept and inviting RV Park. (Another 5 stars from the Smiths!)

Host extraordinaire John determined to show us as much of Seattle as he could. We plugged the RV into electricity and were off on a fabulous tour.

We first visited the Fremont neighborhood called "The Troll." Local artists created this colossal statue, also referred to as the "Troll Under the Bridge." His left hand clutches a real Volkswagen Beetle with California license plates.

We visited a famous restaurant along the water. The flowers alone were worth the visit

From the outdoor patio we watched ships and boats traverse the waterway. This large yacht was responsible for the drawbridge to open.

John drove to an island where we were able to enjoy a great view of the Seattle skyline.

Close by our viewing spot we read the story of the founding of Seattle and the naming of the city. An interesting plaque explains that the city of Seattle was named after Chief Sealth (aka Chief Seattle), the leader of a local Suguamish Native American tribe.

We particularly enjoyed a quick visit to the Pike Place outdoor market. John promised it would be worth the stop, and he was so right. This is a place where one could easily spend from 8am to 8pm and never see nor visit everyplace.

The one place John thought we'd enjoy was the Fish Market. He was so right! People come from all over the world to see their world famous crew of fishmongers throwing fish and having fun with customers. It's not too easy to see, but these fellows are throwing a salmon from one to another....

Not far down the street from the fish market stands the original Starbucks coffee shop. (Of course we had to pay our respects.)

Our day's final stop was a wonderful fish restaurant on the water where we all enjoyed a delicious and filling meal. What a perfect way to end our wonderful all-too-brief adventure in Seattle.

Love and Peace, Paul and Kathleen

PS> And Thanks again, John!

"I HAVE FOUND that the key to the ninety-nine is the one--particularly the one that is testing the patience and the good humor of the many. It is the love and the discipline of the one student, the one child, that communicates love for the others. It's how you treat the one that reveals how you regard the ninety-nine, because everyone is ultimately a one." (9/6)
